CLAS Probation and Dismissal Policy

Prior to Fall 2006 -

How Standing is Determined

Academic Standing for each undergraduate in the College is evaluated at the end of every academic term.

A student's standing is based on KU cumulative grade point average and credit hours attempted. This GPA includes all KU credit hours graded A, B, C, D, or F. KU credit hours graded W, I, S, U, CR, NC, or P are not used to determine attempted hours). Grades and credit hours earned at other colleges or universities are not part of the grade-point average or attempted hours.

A student is considered in good standing if he or she maintains a cumulative KU GPA of 2.0 or better. If a student falls below a KU cumulative GPA of 2.0, the student is placed on academic probation.

Good Standing:

A student is in good standing if he or she maintains a cumulative KU GPA of 2.0 or better.

Probation:

As of Fall 2003, all undergraduate CLAS students will be in good academic standing as long as their KU cumulative GPA is at least 2.00. Other levels of academic standing will be determined as follows.

Subject to Dismissal:

Students who are on Probation and whose KU cumulative GPA is below 2.00 will be continued on probation as long as their cumulative GPA does not move them to either Subject to Dismissal or Dismissal.

Students who are Subject to Dismissal must earn a 2.0 or better semester GPA in order to avoid Dismissal.
